What to Expect on Your First Skydive: A Beginner’s Guide

If you are about to book your fi rst experience with Skyhigh India, you might be wondering exactly how it all unfolds and what to expect from the moment you arrive at the airfi eld to your feet touching solid ground again. As India’s only international dropzone located near Narnaul, you will fi nd that every step has been designed to make your fi rst jump memorable while also being anchored in safety
.
On arrival at the dropzone at Narnaul, you will be welcomed by the team and taken through a ground briefi ng session where you learn about equipment fi t up, body positioning, hand signals and canopy landing technique. The ground briefi ng is more than mere formality, it is the moment when you begin to understand how your jump will work and how you and your instructor will act as one unit in the air. For more details on the preparation, you can read our article A Day in the Life of a Skyhigh India Skydiver, which outlines what our clients experience from briefi ng to freefall. Once you are geared up, you board the aircraft and ascend to altitude. During the climb, you gain a panoramic view of the terrain around Narnaul and you begin to anticipate what is to come. The climb sets the tone and gives you a sense of space and scale. At the height, you and your instructor move to the door and when the moment is right, you exit the aircraft in tandem. The freefall portion that follows may last between 20-40 seconds, and then the parachute deploys and you glide across the skies.
What you wear does matter, so we recommend comfortable athletic clothes and fl at trainers without buckles or loose straps, because you will be harnessed securely and you want every part of your setup to help rather than hinder. For more information on what to wear you can refer to our blog Can’t Decide What to Wear for Skydiving? Read This! It explains how we guide fi rst time jumpers to dress for every season while keeping gear, fi t and safety in mind.
It is also important to know that conditions and health criteria apply to a fi rst jump. Weather is a factor, and there may be waits or adjustments to ensure safe conditions. We make sure you arrive early, allow enough time and understand that the climb and jump are part of a sequence where timing matters. When you land, you will likely feel not just exhilaration but a sense of achievement, so make the most of those feelings! The path from booking to landing has been structured so that your fi rst jump is not chaotic but guided and memorable for exactly the right reasons. At Skyhigh India, we believe that your fi rst skydive should be a clear step into something extraordinary rather than an unpredictable leap. We ensure you are prepared, equipped and supported every step of the way, so that you can focus on the experience rather than anxiety.
